
Lavinia Bugiu, the wife of Argeș County Council Vice President Adrian Dumitra Bugiu, was sentenced to 8 months in prison in the case of selling counterfeit goods, writes Jurnalul de Argeș. On Friday, the Pitesti court sentenced Lavinia Bugia to 8 months in prison, but the judges decided to suspend the execution of the sentence under supervision for two years.
The ruling comes after 15 major brands sued Vice President CJ Argesh’s wife in May 2022.
Lavinia Bugia was charged with the offense of unlawfully placing on the market a product bearing a trademark identical or similar to a registered trademark.
In 2018, she sold clothes, shoes and perfumes of some luxury brands in her store in Pitesti, but they were actually fakes, local media reported.
Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Christian Dior Perfumes, Tommy Hilfiger, Puma, Polo Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Moncler, Adidas, Nike, Converse and Zara opened criminal proceedings against Lavinia Bouguiu.
The wife of the vice-president CJ Argeș is obliged to pay several affected companies a total of 12,360 euros, to which is added 800 lei, court costs.
In addition, Bughiu is obliged to perform unpaid work for the benefit of the community for 40 days at the Environmental Protection Agency of Arges or at the City Hall of Pitesti.
The decision is not final. This can be appealed with a right of appeal within 10 days.
Who is Adrian Bouguiu?
Adrian Bugiu is the Vice President of the County Council and PSD of Arges.
He recently stated that he does not support the possibility of running on joint lists with the NLP in the 2024 elections.

As of the date of publication of the wealth declaration, June 2023, he had more than 120,000 lei in his accounts. According to the document, he received a gift of 295,000 lei during the baptism of the child.
Bugiu received 146,016 lei from CJ Argeş, and his wife, as a director of the company, had an annual income of 18,600 lei.
