At least 24 people were slightly injured in New York on Thursday when two subway trains collided and one derailed, AFP reported.
Three lines of a large network of one of the oldest subways in the world were stopped, and the northwestern part of the main island of the metropolis of Manhattan’s Upper West Side was completely cut off from firefighters, police and emergency services.
No one was seriously injured in the collision between the passenger train and another, which was empty and parked on the same track, New York City EMS Firefighters Ian Swords and Crew Chief Mike Meyers told reporters at the scene.
The New York subway is also very dilapidated, but accidents and incidents are very rare, and ridership is increasing again after being abandoned due to the pandemic and rising crime between 2020 and 2022.
