The prefect of Gorges, Julian Popescu, strongly criticizes the management of the District Council and the emergency hospital in Tirgu Jiu, given that at this time there are no cardiologists to provide security in the largest hospital of Gorges. The prefect accuses the hospital manager of “criminal malfeasance” and claims that the lack of staff “is an excuse for those who run health care in Gorge County” and that “the role of the manager, whether he is the president of the district council or the hospital manager, this is what determines the decision, especially in crisis situations.”

Prefect Gorge accuses the management of the district hospital that “the district has been left without cardiologists”, describing the situation as “outrageous”.

• “The hearts of Gorzh residents must be constantly monitored and treated – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I don’t know how many times we have clear evidence that the health of Gorzh residents is threatened by the leadership of Gorzh. County Council and Gorge County Hospital Expedition.
• I am sorry that the new year has to start with such negative topics for our community. After some desperate phone calls received today from relatives of hospitalized patients with serious cardiac problems, we have learned that in these days, when the number of incidents is still higher than usual, there is not a single cardiologist on duty in all of Gorge County. It is incredible, taken from horror movies, the fact that it is impossible to find a single doctor for all citizens of the Gorge district to ensure permanence,” the prefect wrote on his Facebook page, News.ro reports.

Iulian Popescu says that the lack of security in the cardiology department of the county’s largest hospital “is a very serious situation, a state of emergency” and that it “puts the lives of the people of Gorije at risk.”

• “It is extremely important to take urgent measures to ensure the constant availability of cardiac medical personnel, especially in critical situations when the absence of a specialist negatively affects the survival and health of the victims.
• I know it’s easier to blame the doctors and say they don’t want to be the watchdogs, but that’s an excuse for those who run health care in Gorge County and the role of the leader, whether it’s the county council chair or the hospital manager, is to make the decisions, especially in crisis situations, to find specialists and motivate them accordingly, to form a competitive and at the same time attractive working environment for doctors and assistants.
• Unfortunately, the management of the district hospital coped with this criminal opposition, not being able to provide the community with the necessary medical services, after many years of disrespecting the medical staff,” the prefect said in a message on the social network.

He asks the manager of the Gorge District Hospital to provide a report with the reasons for the absence of a cardiologist call at the district emergency hospital from December 31 to January 2. Popescu also informs that in the near future he will draw the attention of the leadership of the Ministry of Health to this situation and demand an analysis of the management of the Gorge County Hospital.
