Carlo Ancelotti says Real Madrid was always his first choice, which is why he turned Brazil down

The Italian coach has signed a new contract with Real Madrid until 2026.

Ancelotti says he was delighted by the Seleção’s interest, but from his point of view the situation was clear from the start: he wanted to stay at Real.

“The reality is that I spoke with the Brazilian national team, with its president Ednaldo Rodríguez, whom I thank for his love and interest in training Brazil.

I was very proud, but everything depended on Real Madrid’s decision.

In recent months, Ednaldo has ceased to be president (neither was removed by a court order in December) and it finally happened the way I always wanted: to stay at Real Madrid.

I don’t know if Brazil wanted me in 2026 or if they will be happy with my decision.

I’m very pleased with the extension, it was a fairly simple negotiation because we agreed to a deal between me and the president. I am very happy to have two more years as Real Madrid coach – Carlo Ancelottiquoted by News.ro.
