From January 1, 2024, the minimum wage remains at the level of 3,300 lei gross, i.e. at the same level as today. As of October 1, it was raised by 300 lei gross. Therefore, an employee who is paid the minimum wage will receive 2,079 lei “in his hands” (that is, net) from January 1.
We would like to clarify that the Trains Decree (OG 115/2023) extended the 200 lei non-taxable minimum wage benefit.
The minimum wage is expected to increase from July 1, 2024 to 3,700 lei gross, keeping the facility, which would mean 2,307 lei net. Since there is still a long time until then, we do not know what will happen at the end. Let’s not forget that this is an election year.
The minimum wage in construction remains at the current level
The construction minimum wage has been increased by a gross amount only since October 1 so as not to affect the net number of workers after the introduction of the CASS payment.
Thus, from January 1, 2024, it remains at the level of 4,582 lei gross, which means that an employee who is paid in this way will have 3,196 lei on hand.
The difference in net salary compared to December is due to contributions to the II level of pensions, which will increase to 4.75% from January 1, 2024, and many employees have chosen not to make contributions.
Minimum wage in agriculture and food industry
As with construction, CASS was introduced in 2023 and the minimum wage was raised only to avoid wage losses.
Thus, it remains at the level of 3,436 lei gross from January 1, 2024, which means 2,396 lei net.
It is clearly higher than today, if we take into account the same situation as in construction. It depends on the employees.
