What are the prices of gasoline and diesel fuel?

Standard gasoline was sold until 12 midnight in Bucharest for 6.49 – 6.58 lei/liter at several gas stations in Bucharest. Shortly after the fireworks, prices were 6.78 – 6.87 lei/liter.

On December 31, diesel was sold for 6.97 – 7.05 lei/liter. After 12:00, the price increased to 7.23 – 7.31 lei/liter.

By how much did the Cholak government increase the excise duty on fuel

From January 1, the excise duty has increased by the following amounts:

Unleaded gasoline: 29 bans/liter

Diesel fuel: 26 ban/l

From July 1 – another increase:

Unleaded gasoline: 43 bani/liter

Diesel fuel: 39 ban/l

Where else will prices rise, apart from the effects that we will see from the increase in the price of gasoline and diesel fuel

From January 1:

VAT has been increased from 9% to 19% on the supply of non-alcoholic beer and food products with added sugar, the total sugar content of which is at least 10 g/100 g of product.

Milk powder for newborns, infants and young children, cakes and biscuits are excluded.

It increased from 5% to 9% for:

  • provision of social housing
  • delivery of houses with a usable area of ​​no more than 120 square meters.
  • delivery and installation of photovoltaic panels, solar panels, heat pumps and other highly efficient heating systems
  • services consisting of providing access to amusement parks, amusement parks and leisure parks, fairs, exhibitions, cinemas and cultural events, other than tax-exempt
  • delivery of high-quality food products, namely mountain, eco, traditional products approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Delivery of these food products will be accompanied by a copy of the recognition/attestation/certification document issued by the competent authority, except for delivery to the final consumer.

VAT for gyms has been increased from 5% to 19%.

Excise duty on sweet drinks

A tax on sugar appeared. More precisely, it is an excise tax for:

• soft drinks with added sugar, for which the total sugar level is from 5 g to 8 g/100 ml 40 lei/hl

• soft drinks with added sugar, for which the total sugar level exceeds 8 g/100 ml 60 lei/hl

When we talk about added sugar, both in terms of excise duty and VAT, the Government changed the definition through the Trains Decree (OG 115/2023).

New definition: Added sugar means cane sugar, brown sugar, crystalline sucrose, invert sugar, dextrose, molasses, honey sugar, molasses and syrups such as malt syrup, fruit syrup, rice malt syrup, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup , Maple syrup. , glucose syrup, glucose-fructose, fructose, sucrose, glucose, lactose, hydrolyzed lactose, galactose, sugars in nectars such as coconut flower nectar, date nectar, agave nectar, jam sugar added as an ingredient.

In addition, taxes are increasing both for PFA and for small and large companies. It remains to be seen to what extent this will be reflected in prices.
