Poland on Saturday resumed an operation to find elements of a suspected Russian missile that allegedly violated its airspace on Friday morning, the Polish military announced, Reuters reported.

“We inform you that on December 30… in the Lublin Voivodeship, a ground search will be conducted for possible elements of the object that violated Polish airspace yesterday,” the operational command of the Polish Army reported on the X social network.

“The purpose of the search is to definitely confirm that no element of the object remained on the territory of Poland,” he added.

The Polish military said on Friday that the object left the country’s airspace three minutes after entering from the Ukrainian border.

About 480 servicemen of the Territorial Defense Forces will take part in the search near the city of Zamosc in the south-east of Poland, the operational command reported.

On Friday evening, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland summoned Russia’s Chargé d’affaires with a demand to explain the violation of its airspace by a guided missile.

Russia’s chargé d’affaires in Poland Andriy Ordash said Moscow would not provide an explanation for the missile in Polish airspace until it was provided with “concrete evidence” that it was a Russian missile.

As RIA Novosti reports, Ordash said: “Until concrete evidence is provided, we will not give any explanations, as these accusations are groundless.”
