Asked on Romanian television on Thursday night whether the revolutionary title scandal, which he rejects, could be an attack on his presidential candidacy, Călăcu said: “At the moment it has not crossed my mind to run. The most important elections are the first elections to the European Parliament.”

Cholaku reminded that if PSD loses the election, he will resign as party leader the next day.

“As soon as you lose the election, you’re gone. This is the golden rule in politics. You can’t get rid of it. You postpone it for a month, two, and in the end you still get it. (.. .) I am firmly convinced that we will be the first in European Parliament. (…) We also have to mature politically. We have to assume things. I am one of the people who assume things,” Çolaku added.
