Deontay Wilder (former WBC heavyweight champion) suffered a surprise defeat from New Zealand’s Joseph Parker on Saturday at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Returning to the ring after more than a year, Wilder (38 years old) dominated throughout the match. Parker (31 years old) was close to victory right from the eighth round, when he pinned his opponent in the corner of the ring.

Three judges declared Joseph Parker the winner: 118-111, 118-110 and 120-108.

In the same event, Anthony Joshua (former WBA, IBF and WBO champion) defeated Otto Wallin by knockout in the fifth round.

Joshua has said he wants to fight Tyson Fury, but his next opponent is likely to be Filip Hrgovic after the Croatian knocked out Mark De Mori in the first round.

Australian Jai Opetaia (WBC Light Heavyweight Champion) delivered the punch of the night in his fight against Great Britain’s Ellis Zorro.
