The winners were determined in the presence of representatives of state authorities, companies and public organizations working in the field of environmental protection.

Jubilee gala award ceremony for a clean environment marks the achievement of 780 projects submitted to the competition public, educational institutions, companies and public organizations for 15 years of deployment.

In this year’s edition, the jury consists of representatives Ministry of Environment, Water Resources and Forests, Information cons, Embassy of sustainable development in Romania, Circular Economy Coalition and Hotnews they judged 80 projects are registered and determined the winners in the following nominations:

ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS

UAT Moinești has two projects in progress: “Modernization of the integrated urban mobility corridor in the central part of the municipality” and “Extension of the network of bicycle paths and reconstruction of sidewalks on Mihai Eminescu, George Kosbuk and Captain Zaganescu streets”, which involve the reconstruction of green areas, apartment buildings , landscaping with cobblestones, public lighting system, video surveillance, arrangement of bicycle stations, shuttle taxis, modernization of pedestrian areas, construction of rain channels, installation of a video surveillance system on the street. streets

Thanks to actions developed locally by local public authorities, about 2,200 km were avoided by cars, about 400 kg of CO2 were saved, more than 14,000 tons of WEEE, 11,000 kg of paper were collected, 10,000 trees were planted and about 900 were adopted , more than 10,000 square meters of degraded land were planted, about 25 hectares of plantations were supported and a new urban forest was created.

The Future Through Action project aims to stimulate active participation in the decision-making process at the local and regional levels in Romania regarding the 2030 Agenda by increasing the level of active responsibility of young people, youth leaders and teachers in Romania regarding sustainable development and climate change. This goal will be achieved through the formation of an active network of 44 non-formal education trainers (teachers and youth leaders) focused on the development of global citizenship skills, who will develop specific skills among 1200 young people with aged 15 to 30 from 16 settlements in Romania. These young people, together with trainers, will be trained to develop citizen engagement activities and contribute to the project’s advocacy activities aimed at influencing how the government implements the 2030 Agenda implementation strategy in 16 target areas.

The project provides for the selection of goods with a short shelf life from economic agents-partners, sorting and immediate distribution to a network of NGO-beneficiaries. Through this project, good consumer food products are eliminated from waste, which has a positive impact on the environment, improving some products and reducing greenhouse gas emissions because they no longer end up in landfills. On the other hand, it helps feed people in need, having a positive impact on poverty reduction, Romania currently has the highest proportion of people at risk of poverty and social exclusion (34.4%). In January-August 2023, 563 tons of food were collected, which translates into 1,126,146 portions of food.

Green Moon at UVT was a large-scale event dedicated to awareness and promotion of sustainable development and environmental protection, which took place from May 6 to June 5. This initiative, which reached its second edition in 2023, included over 23 events focused on training and mobilizing participants to more responsible and sustainable behavior. Starting with preparatory actions such as the UNITA Green Mobilities Ideathon & Hackathon, which encouraged innovation in sustainable mobility and the promotion of cycling as a means of daily transport, as well as excursions in UVT City gardenthat informed elementary school students about the importance of urban gardens near their homes or schools, the event was full of creative and educational initiatives.
