
As part of a joint initiative between the academic environment and the banking sector, Raiffeisen Bank Romania and the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of the University of Babes Bolyai (UBB) have launched the Think Tank Lab, a project that aims to develop state-of-the-art artistic banking products involving students who are passionate about technology. Open to all interested students, the Think Tank Lab is not just a project, but a call to those who wish to apply their imagination and knowledge to work in an exciting and interactive environment.
Think Tank Lab is a platform where the financial future is shaped by the minds and ideas of young UBB students. They had the opportunity to join teams of 5-6 colleagues and will work together with experienced mentors from Raiffeisen Bank Romania. In the training and mentoring program, students will gain experience, learn and contribute to the development of creative solutions for the banking industry.
At the opening ceremony, which took place in the Regional Business Center in Cluj-Napoca, the rector of UBB, prof.univ.dr. Daniel Davyd, vice-rector of UBB, researcher of the university. Dr. Christian Sakerea and Bohdan Popa, Vice President of Operations and Information Technology, Raiffeisen Bank Romania, together with students and other guests.
Professor Daniel David, Rector of UBB, emphasized the importance of the partnership with Raiffeisen Bank Romania, stating: “I am happy to see that the network of centers of excellence and innovation centered around UBB is now expanding in partnership with one of the main players in the economic environment – the Romanian banker, which strengthens the first positions that UBB occupies in international rankings regarding “partnership with industry”, “innovation”, “the attractiveness of UBB for the socio-economic environment” or “employability of students”.
Bohdan Popa, Vice President of Operations and IT, Raiffeisen Bank Romania, emphasized the importance of investing in education through projects that bring innovation and technology to the fore. “We invest in education through projects that bring innovation and technology to the fore, and the long-term partnership we want to have with Babeș—Bolyai University starts with the launch of a program based on practice and mentoring, which gives students the opportunity to interact with banking specialists and feel the importance of teamwork to develop effective projects for the future.”
As part of the Think Tank Lab, Raiffeisen Bank Romania inaugurated a center dedicated to education in the field of technology and innovation, located in the regional business center in Cluj-Napoca. This revamped space provides students with learning and networking experiences, fostering team collaboration and project development focused on topics such as sustainable banking, blockchain applications and technologies, artificial intelligence, the bank of the future and next-generation financial banking products.
The project will continue until the end of March, when an award ceremony will be held, at which the most innovative ideas developed by students will be recognized. The Think Tank Lab is an important bridge between academia and the banking sector, helping to educate the next generation of banking technology and innovation professionals.
