Gary Wilson won the Scottish Open Snooker Championship for the second year in a row after defeating Thailand’s Noppon Saengkham 9-5 in the final in Edinburgh.

Gary Wilson defended his Scottish Open snooker title

After reaching the final after a dramatic match with Yuelong Zhou (decided by the black ball in the deciding frame), Wilson easily won the final against Sengkham (leading 3-0, 6-1, 7-2, 8-4 and 9-5).

After this tournament, Gary Wilson (World No. 20) will receive a check for £80,000, while Noppon Sengkham (No. 26) will go home with £35,000.

Know:

  • Gary Wilson (nicknamed the Tyneside Terror) turned professional in 2004, but the Scottish Open is the only ranking tournament he has managed to win (he won the Stephen Hendry Trophy in 2022 and 2023).
  • The Englishman played two more finals: China Open 2015 (2-10 against Mark Selby) and British Open 2021 (4-6 against Mark Williams).
