The 76-year-old former Lakers player (who played for Los Angeles for 14 seasons) suffered a fractured hip and will require surgery.

The “KAJ” Hall of Famer is now hospitalized at UCLA, where his spokeswoman Deborah Morales said the star is “deeply grateful to the doctors who are caring for him.”

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was a six-time NBA champion and six-time MVP in the 20 seasons he spent in the North American Basketball League.

He made his NBA debut in 1969 with the Milwaukee Bucks, which he led to their first NBA title in 1969.

In 1975, he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he played alongside guard Magic Johnson, winning five titles in the 1980s. Retired in 1989.

For several years, Kareem-Abdul Jabbar held the NBA scoring record, set in 1984.

This mythical bar of 38,387 points was not overcome by the superstar LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers only in February 2023.
