The burning was found to be generalized at the level of the roof. We are working with a mobile ladder for extinguishing from a height and from two sides of the building,” the Bucharest-Ilfov Emergency Situations Inspectorate reported.
According to the ISU, there was a threat of the flames spreading to the nearby forest.
The chain of restaurants “Taverna Racilor” belongs to businessman Paul Nikolaou, known as “Pescobar”.
On Saturday morning, he responded on TikTok, saying that “everything burned down” and that only material damage had been caused: “That’s it, it’s on fire, it’s being repaired, life goes on.”
In September, the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) announced that it had closed the Taverna Racilor restaurant in Herăstrău for a period of 6 months to a year after finding violations and applying fines to all the inspections they carried out over the summer. The ANPC, which made the announcement, posted images of rotting clams, moldy salmon and rusted tools in the restaurant’s kitchen. According to ANPC, the restaurant did not even have a permit from the city hall.

Also during this period, the ANPC announced that the Taverna Racilor restaurant in Timișoara was fined 15,000 lei by the consumer protection commissioners, who ordered a temporary suspension of operations, after they found fish and seafood stored in unhygienic conditions or kept thawed in boxes containing liquid drained from defrosting. As a result of the inspection, it turned out that the restaurant is operating without a permit from the Timisoara City Hall, ANPC reports.
