
Ten of the 11 people arrested for bribery and influence peddling in the case of kickbacks for positions at the Botoshani District Emergency Hospital “Mavromati” were previously arrested. Suceava court magistrates on Friday evening issued a remand warrant for Kaba and Krishmar, accused of bribery and influence peddling, as well as the crimes of using in any way, directly or indirectly, information that is not intended to be made public or given to unauthorized persons access to this information for the purpose of obtaining money, goods or other illegal benefit for himself or others.
Judges in Suceava accepted a proposal by prosecutors of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) to pre-emptively arrest the two, after searches were carried out at both the hospital and their homes, as well as the headquarters of the Upravi district or the center of the district organization of the Social Democratic Party .
In addition, the judges of the Suceava court issued an order for the preventive arrest of two doctors, Claudia Malancea, the head of the ATI department, and Cornelia Anka Sarban, the chief doctor of the internal medicine department of Seveni, which belongs to the Mavromati district emergency hospital.
In the same case, the head of administrative, technical and supply services of the district hospital Silvian Adrian Tatarkan, medical registrar Cristina Nikulina Andronache, economist Liliana Laura Kalinchuk from the payroll department, secretary of the hospital manager Mirela Gabriel Fokš and paramedic from the ATI department Marinela Preda were also arrested.
The administrator of a private company was also detained for abuse of influence.
At the same time, four more people were placed under judicial control.
The instrumented DNA case refers to suspicions of corruption and similar crimes committed in the period 2018-2023 by civil servants of the hospital department, in the context of falsification of tenders for filling vacant positions.
On Wednesday, searches were carried out in 92 locations in Botosani and Iași counties. CJ Botoşani and subordinate hospital – District Emergency Hospital were searched. At the same time, prosecutors targeted Botosani’s PSD and Sévéni’s city hall.

According to DNA, between 2018 and 2023, the individuals targeted by the investigation demanded and received, directly or through intermediaries, from various people, including medical staff, jewelry and sums of money between 8,000 and 15,000 euros for a medical assistant . positions, and for such a position as a worker, caregiver, stretcher bearer, laundress, the bribe would be from 2,000 to 5,000 euros.
The prosecutor’s office says that the sums increased depending on the addition of each middleman participating in the criminal scheme.
In 2019, the “cost” of filling an assistant position was 8,000 euros, in 2022 it increased to 10,000 euros, and in 2023 it reached 15,000 euros, according to DNA.
Also, in addition to money, gold jewelry and luxury watches were allegedly given for promotion to the positions of specialist doctors, for the transfer of medical personnel from other medical units to the emergency medical care hospital of Mavromati Botoshani district, and for the approval of exemptions for the competition for some positions.
“At the moment, the amounts of money discovered, which would have been received as bribes, amount to a total of approximately 65,000 euros,” DNA also notes, indicating that other persons are also involved in this case.
11 detainees were brought to the Suceava court on Thursday afternoon with a proposal for preventive arrest.
