The championship in Turkey will resume on December 19

“All leagues will resume on Tuesday, December 19,” said Mehmet Buyukeksi, the president of the federation, who announced the “sie die postponement” of all matches from Monday to Tuesday night.

Buyukeksi said that sanctions against the Ankaragücü club could be announced on Thursday. Only the matches of the 16th stage of the Super League will be postponed.

Angakaragucu president Faruk Koca resigned as head of the Turkish Premier League side on Tuesday, hours after a court in Ankara ordered him to be taken into custody for punching a referee. Khalil Umut Mehler punched in the face at the end of the match his team played against Rizespor on Monday.

The president of Ankaragücü and two other people suspected of assaulting a referee were sent to prison in Ankara on Tuesday morning on charges of “causing bodily harm to an official in the performance of his duties” and violating the anti-violence law in sports, reports Agerpres. .

Koja admitted the attack, but claims the blow was light and that five seconds passed between his punch and the moment Mehler fell to the ground.

The attacked referee said in statements made available to the media that Farouk Koja threatened him with the words “I will kill you” before punching him and that he had filed a complaint against the sports manager.

Romanian midfielder Olimpiu Morutsan scored a goal for the team “Ankaraguju” in the match against “Rizespor” (1:1), which took place on Monday evening in the framework of the 15th stage of the Super League.

Morutan opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a shot from outside the penalty area, but Rizespor equalized in the last phase of the match thanks to Argentine Adolfo Gaich (90+7).

Both teams ended the match in numerical invincibility, eliminating Ali Sou (51) and Emir Khan Topcha (90+5), respectively.

Immediately after the final whistle, Faruk Koja entered the field and punched referee Khalil Umut Mehler in the face. He fell to the ground and crouched to defend himself, but was punched several times in the face in a stampede by at least two men, believed to be supporters of the local team. The referee was evacuated with the help of the police and taken to the hospital.

After this serious incident, the Turkish Football Federation decided to suspend all national championships.
