UEFA has clear rules and the president’s term is limited to just two four-year terms, but that could change at the next congress in February.

Aleksandar Čeferin hopes to change UEFA’s status to get a new mandate

UEFA President Alexander Ceferin plans to change the status of the governing body of European football so that he can remain in office for another four years, writes DPA, Agerpres reports.

Ceferin’s term ends in 2027, but a proposal to amend the statute must be brought to UEFA’s congress in Paris on February 8, 2024, when it would require a two-thirds majority of the 55 members.

If the proposal is approved, Ceferin, who was unopposed for re-election this year, would be eligible to run for office again in 2027.

Ceferin was first elected in 2016, replacing Michel Platini.

UEFA confirmed his plans on Monday.
