
China and Japan accused each other on Sunday of maritime incursions after a clash between their coastal patrols in the waters around disputed islands in the East China Sea, Reuters reported, taken from news.ro.
China’s coast guard said on Sunday that a Japanese fishing boat and several patrol vessels entered the waters around the tiny islands, called Diaoyu in China and Senkaku in Japan, the day before.
The uninhabited islands are controlled by Japan, but are also claimed by China.
China’s coast guard said it had taken the necessary measures in accordance with the law to warn the Japanese vessels.
Japan’s coast guard said on Saturday that two Chinese maritime patrol boats had left Japan’s territorial waters around the islands after receiving warnings. According to him, the patrol ships were protecting a Japanese fishing vessel that had been boarded by Chinese vessels.
Similar cases took place in November and October.
Asian maritime disputes involving China have become more frequent.
On Sunday, China and the Philippines exchanged accusations over a collision between their ships in a part of the South China Sea claimed by each nation, the second clash in as many days.
