David Popovici won a bronze medal in the 100-meter freestyle at the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Otopeni.
After qualifying sixth in the event’s final, the CS Dinamo Bucharest-registered athlete finished third, stopping the clock at 46.05 seconds.
David Popovichi started the race quite modestly, was the last after the first length of the pool, but in the last 25 meters he recovered remarkably and took the bronze medal.
Gold went to Maxim Grusse (French, 45.46 seconds), Alessandro Miressi (Italian, 45.51) finished second.
This is the second medal for Romania at the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Otopeni, after Andrii Ungur’s bronze in the 100m backstroke.
