Police are continuing their investigation into the case of two 15-year-old teenage girls from the town of Urikani, who died after jumping into the void on Saturday from a water tower about 20 meters high belonging to a former factory in the municipality of Lupeni, IPJ Hunedoara spokesman Bohdan Nitsu said on Sunday.

According to him, criminal proceedings have been opened based on this fact, the investigation continues to establish the circumstances and reasons that prompted two minors to resort to such a gesture.

One of the girls called her mother on Saturday afternoon to say she was about to commit suicide, and the woman immediately called the police on 112.

After the call, several response teams, both from the police of the municipality of Lupeni and the medical brigade, went to the scene.

The father of the girl, who told her mother that she was going to commit suicide, is an employee of the Urikani city hall and arrived at the abandoned factory in Lupen at the same time as the rescuers, the Observer News reports.

Unfortunately, he found his little girl not breathing, as well as a second teenage girl who was being resuscitated without success.

The girls were found face up, which could indicate that they jumped back from the almost 20-meter tower.

“When he arrived they were both down, he rushed, the phones, left high up on the building, dressed as they were, from the cold weather, fell to that rough, stony ground. It is certain that they planned it in advance. They chose their place, so it’s not by chance,” said the Mayor of Uricani, Danut Buhaescu.

The mayor told CNN Antena 3 that the two teenagers came from ordinary families.

The girls were classmates until the eighth grade, according to Digi 24. They remained friends after starting classes at technology high schools, one at Hurricane and the other at Vulcan.

According to ISJ Hunedoara, teenage girls did not miss school and did not complain to their colleagues about problems at home.

“In this case, the police officers of the Lupeni Municipal Police are continuing their investigation. A criminal case was filed. We are continuing the investigation to establish exactly the circumstances and reasons that made the two minors resort to this gesture,” IPJ spokesman Hunedoara said.

The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Petroshan District Court.
