The film, directed by French director Justine Trier, tells the story of a successful writer, played by Sandra Hüller (Toni Erdmann, Zone of Interest), who tries to prove her innocence after being accused of murdering her husband.
The film previously won the award for best screenplay and the award for best editing. Triet was also awarded Best Director, while Sandra Hüller won Best Actress.
Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen was named best actor for his role in the movie “Promised Land” and received the award via video recording.
German actor Christian Friedel, who played Auschwitz commander Rudolf Hess in the film “Zone of Interests”, was among the nominees for the award in this category.
Also, the European Film Academy awarded the British actress Vanessa Redgrave for her entire career.
Spanish director Isabel Koiche (“The Secret Life of Words”) was also awarded for her services to world cinema.
The European Film Academy Awards are considered to be one of the most prestigious awards in the film industry, and their ceremonies take place alternately in Berlin and other European cities.
