According to the special prosecutor in charge of the investigation, Hunter Biden, 53, “engaged in a scheme to evade payment of at least $1.4 million in his federal tax returns” between 2016 and 2019.

He “spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle instead of paying taxes,” according to the cited document, which detailed nine counts ranging from tax evasion to making false statements.

According to the indictment, the former lawyer and businessman spent his money on drugs, an “escort” company, as well as luxury cars and clothes.

The new indictment means the president’s son, who has already been charged with illegal gun possession, could be tried twice next year while his father is being re-elected to the White House, AFP said.
