“20% of journalists will be fired,” Dan Puica, CEO of Ringier Romania, told Libertatea editor-in-chief Dan Duca.

Svoboda has 45-50 people. 20% will mean 10 people. According to other information provided by management, approximately 15 journalists will leave “following an independent evaluation process,” according to an article published Wednesday.

Libertatea is already without an editorial director. Cătălin Tolontan, editorial coordinator of the newspaper Libertatea, announced on Wednesday that he was ending his cooperation with Ringier. The decision comes a month after Tolontan was removed from Gazeta Sporturilor.

Libertatea’s deputy editor-in-chief Yuliya Roshu and deputy editor-in-chief Kamelia Sten were also dismissed.

According to an article published by the editors, during her dismissal, Iulia Rosu asked Dan Puica, the CEO of Romania, do you know what my job is? According to the deputy editor-in-chief, the CEO said no.
