The Norwegian Refugee Council says the “dispersion” of Gaza is one of the “worst attacks on any civilian population of our era” and condemns Israel’s allies for supporting it, Sky News reports.

Secretary-General Ian Egelann said the deaths of Palestinian civilians “will be a permanent stain” on the reputation of countries that supported Israel with weapons.

“Every day we see more dead children and new depths of suffering of innocent people going through this hell,” she said, adding that Israel’s operation could not be called self-defense.

Ngeland said many NRC staff live on the streets of Gaza, one of whom has a two-month-old baby.

“Our colleagues in Gaza are asking themselves a simple question: How is it that these atrocities are being broadcast around the world for all to witness, and yet so little is being done to stop them?” she said.

Israel’s allies must demand an immediate ceasefire from both sides, Ms. Egeland said, adding that responsibility must also be held for the “atrocities” committed by Hamas on October 7.
