Romania missed out on qualifying for the second stage of the Mixed Table Tennis World Cup after losing 8-5 to France on Tuesday.

Romania started the day well with an 8-0 win over Australia (8-0), but they also need a win over France to progress to the next stage of the competition.

Elizabeth Samara – Michelle Bromley 3-0 (11-3, 11-5, 11-5)

Ovidiu Ionescu/Eizabeta Samara – Alexis Lebrun/Jia Nan Yuan 1-2 (5-11, 11-6, 7-11)

Bernadette Shox – Prithika Pavade 2-1 (12-10, 9-11, 11-8)

Darius Movilianu – Felix Lebrun 0-3 (8-11, 8-11, 5-11)

Bernadette Shox/Elizabeta Samara – Pritika Pavade/Jia Nan Yuan 2-1 (11-8, 9-11, 11-7)

Ovidiu Ionescu/Darius Movilianu – Alexis Lebrun/Felix Lebrun 0-1 (7-11).

With these results, Japan and France advance to the second stage of the Mixed Team World Cup, while Romania took 3rd place in Group 3.
