In the summer of 2007, a dramatic birth at Bucharest University Hospital made headlines. An incredible series of medical errors led to the fact that little Sebastian strangled his umbilical cord and deprived his brain of oxygen for tens of minutes. During all this time, no medical personnel intervened in any way. His parents took him home with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, severe neurological damage and irreversible trauma.
Without being able to walk, talk or even be able to swallow your own saliva. From that moment, the parents’ life changed 180 degrees. In addition to the superhuman efforts of caring for the baby, they fought a terrible battle to bring to justice those who destroyed their existence.

16 years later, I tracked down the parents to find out how the little boy was feeling, the victim of the most high-profile case of wrongful birth. The child lost the battle in July 2022.
