The Wellness Szindbád Hotel in Balatonsemes, Somody County, has proposed a new tariff system, probably due to high electricity costs, which includes: mandatory payment for parking and use of the refrigerator in the hotel room, respectively a contribution to the consumed electricity, www.vg.hu reports. which is quoted by Rador Radio Romania.
Portfolio noticed that the hotel in question published on its website a night’s stay at HUF 21,500/person (€56.71) with a minimum booking of 2 nights, but also clarified that an energy contribution was also introduced, which is due to the heating season is HUF 1,270/person/night (EUR 3.35), and in the heating season – from October 20 to April 20 – HUF 3,270/person/night (EUR 8.62).
The hotel management also introduced a mandatory fee for using the refrigerator in the rooms, which costs HUF 1,850 (EUR 4.88).
Parking in front of the hotel is free, but the use of the closed car park monitored by a camera costs HUF 1,270 per night (€3.35). The portal wanted to ask the hotel management how guests reacted to the new value elements, but did not receive an answer.
President of the Hungarian Hotel and Restaurant Association, Tamás Fláš, told the portal that it is probably difficult for guests to understand that they have to pay extra for heating and cooling.
According to the expert, such a price is not attractive, rather it annoys the guests. In his opinion, it is a personal matter of everyone, in what form to apply prices for services from the point of view of marketing, but he cannot imagine that from now on hotels will take money for everything, working as low-cost carriers.
According to the director of the AquaWorld Resort Budapest complex, Roland Sivoshe, in general, it can be said that the market acceptability of room prices is at the limit. Roland Sivo also pointed out that they did not remove any service from their packages, but they had to increase the prices of additional services by 10-15%.
In his opinion, prices for food and drinks have increased, as well as wages, beauty treatments and, of course, laundry.
The question of introducing a tax on hotel services has not been raised for the first time, but now the Professional Association has turned to the Government with a specific request: An employee who receives a direct benefit from the flow of guests can be more motivated, and the employer can make the industry attractive by taxing the income more favorably than salary (photo: Pgaborphotos | Dreamstime.com)
