Dynamo Bucharest have parted ways with coach Ovidiu Burke after failing with FCSB, but are close to appointing a foreign technician without a one-year contract.
Croatian Željko Kopić agreed with Dynamo and will become the team’s new coach
After a run of 11 games without a win in the Super League, Dynamo have decided to part ways with Ovidiu Burke, the coach who managed a surprising promotion in the summer.
The club’s chiefs held talks with several technicians, including Liviu Chobotariou, Florin Maximus and Florin Bratu, but eventually turned to a name from abroad.
The Croatian Željko Kopić, the former coach of “Hajduk” Split and “Dynamo” Zagreb, became the chosen one, reports Gazeta Sporturilur.
At the age of 46, the former midfielder last coached Botev (Plovdiv) in Bulgaria, with whom he parted ways in December 2022.
In Split, he coached former Dynamo captain Steliano Filip, who compares him to Dusan Ugrin.
“He is a very good coach. He is very demanding and imposes the team. He knows how to present himself in front of football players. He is a coach like Dushan Ugrin.
I think he will save the team from relegation without discussion. I hope, I wish with all my heart that Dynamo will be saved,” said Steliano Philip for GSP.
Dynamo are second to last in the Superliga standings with just 10 points and will face Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe in the round of 18 on Monday at 20:00.
