In an exclusive interview with Euronews Romania, Mayor Kimpulung Muscel said that the president of the USR party, Catalin Drula, informed him of his withdrawal from the race for the seat in Brussels.

“I am not on the lists of the European Parliament, because I was removed by the leadership of the UDR. It was not my decision, it was a forced decision, I was told to remove myself from the lists. Katelyn Drula informed me. I would like to voice all the elements within the party, I am not the type that divides, I am the person who unites,” said Lasconi.

Only 16% of Romanians think the USR did the right thing by removing Elena Lasconi from the list of MEPs, while 43% think the decision was wrong, according to the results of the Avangarde poll commissioned by Digi 24.

It will be recalled that USR President Katalin Drula asked Elena Lasconi to withdraw from the campaign for the European Parliament after the scandal caused by her statements about voting in the family referendum.

Olena Lasconi, appointed head of the USR list in the European Parliament elections, said in an interview with Prima TV that she voted “YES” in the referendum on the traditional family in 2018. “I am a Christian, I am Orthodox and I believe that a family consists of a woman and a man,” said Lasconi.
