​​Law 296/2023 was adopted with the idea of ​​reducing the operating costs of the state, by reducing the number of employees in the public sector and some material costs. But the law risks having limited effectiveness, leaving loopholes through which claimed austerity can be avoided. For example, the National Agency for Civil Servants canceled positions that were already unfilled, but they are buying extra cars.

The ANFP is just one of many government agencies that must present a restructuring and cost-cutting plan by January 1, 2024. The Agency’s draft has been put up for public comment on the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration (MDLPA) website, and it appears that the ANFP could become more expensive than it is now.
