
The head of the border police, Viktor Štefan Iváška, was fired after the mayor of Baia Mare, Katalin Čerečes, fled the country through Vama Petea on Friday, using the documents of a relative at the border. The head of IPJ Maramures was also dismissed and the leadership of the Police Academy was changed.
“Dismissal from the position of inspector general of the border police, quaestor of the police Viktor Štefan Ivashka with his consent and ensuring the continuity of leadership, in accordance with the law, by the deputy inspector general, quaestor of the police Kornel Laurian Stoica”, – says the press release of the ministry under the leadership of Katalin Preda.
The MAI claims that the changes were made to “support the restoration of a high level of managerial and professional efficiency, as well as citizens’ trust in the law and authorities.”
Thus, after meetings on management analysis held together with the heads of structures and at the level of the management of the MAI, a number of management measures were adopted:
Thus, depending on the legal regime of each of the following positions, it was decided:
- Dismissal of Police Quaestor Viktor Štefan Ivaska from the position of Inspector General of the Border Police with his consent and ensuring the continuity of management, according to the law, by the Deputy Inspector General, Police Quaestor Cornel Laurian Stoika.
- Revoking the authority of the Deputy Inspector General of the IGPF responsible for the supervision of the border.
- Revoking the powers of the deputy general inspector of the IPF for administrative and technical support.
- The control body of the minister will carry out control at the Territorial Inspection of the Border Police in Sigetul-Marmatsiy, including at the Petya checkpoint.
- Termination of the measure to ensure the leadership of the officer assigned to the team of the Maramures District Police Inspectorate and the granting of the powers of Chief Commissioner Konstantin Ilea as Chief Inspector.
- The General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police will conduct an inspection at the Maramures County Police Inspectorate.
- The General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police will evaluate the management of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police, the structure responsible for coordinating the activities of judicial supervision, by December 6, 2023.
- In order to strengthen the institutional capacity of operational support structures in the Court of Appeal of Cluj, replace the leadership of the Cluj Special Operations Brigade with the appointment of another officer as the head of the Brigade.
- Replacement of the leadership of the District Security Service (General Directorate of Internal Security) of Maramures by appointing another officer as the head of the service.
- Granting of the powers of Brigadier General Liviu Uzlau as the commander (rector) of the Alexander Ioan Kuza Police Academy
