According to the presidential decree, the first deputy head of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Volodymyr Kondratyuk, was dismissed as an officer with the highest rank.

Three more dismissed deputies are Lieutenant General Oleksandr Nabok and two Major Generals Oleg Sogon and Mykola Mykolenko.

With the exception of Sahon, all the generals were in office before the war.

The reasons for this change in the leadership of the National Guard of Ukraine are still unknown.

A few months ago, Zelenskyi changed the head of this structure, appointing an officer with combat experience Oleksandr Pivnenko as its head.

National Guardsmen fought on the front lines

The National Guard is a paramilitary organization subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and responsible for border protection and internal security protection. However, since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, National Guardsmen have been fighting on the front lines.

Zelenskyi said on Friday that he wants to release soldiers from the army after the end of their mandatory service, despite the continuation of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The President of Ukraine noted that serious issues of mobilization, demobilization and rotation were considered during the meeting of the Supreme Military Command of the country.

Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security Council, said that the president asked the military leadership to demobilize these soldiers.

A concrete plan should be presented next week.

The largest attack by Russian drones since the beginning of the war, which resulted in five wounded

According to Reuters, Ukraine’s capital was hit by what officials said was Russia’s biggest drone attack since the start of the war, killing five as the sounds of anti-aircraft fire and explosions woke Kyivans at dawn.

The Ukrainian Air Force initially said 71 of the 75 drones launched by Russia had been shot down, but later reduced the number to 74. A spokesman said on television that 66 of them had been shot down over Kyiv and the surrounding area.

The head of the Air Force, Mykola Olestiuk, praised the effectiveness of “mobile fire” units – usually high-speed trucks with a machine gun or an anti-aircraft gun installed on the platform, which shot down almost 40% of drones. .

Nearly 80 apartment buildings and more than 100 houses in Kyiv were left without power on Saturday after a massive Russian drone attack on the Ukrainian capital overnight, Ukrainian authorities said, as quoted by AFP.

On the morning of November 25, a large-scale drone attack in the capital damaged power lines, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine said in a statement. “As a result, 77 residential buildings and 120 buildings in the central part of the city were cut off,” the report says. (Agerpress)
