A 76-year-old woman died on Friday after being beaten by a man on the street in Bucharest’s 6th district, the capital’s police said, saying the suspect had been caught.

The capital police reported that today the 20th police department received a report at number 112 that physical violence was committed against a woman on one of the streets in the 6th sector. “The police officers of the department urgently went to the specified address, and established that the reports were confirmed, and found an unconscious woman in the building. The police provided first aid and immediately called a medical team,” the Metropolitan Police reported.

Soon after, the policemen of the 20th branch detained a 56-year-old man near the place who was trying to leave the area and was immobilized.

“The medical team performed resuscitation measures on the woman, but later had to declare her dead,” the police said. The victim was 76 years old.
