05:20 The World Food Program says it has more than 100 trucks with about 1,300 tons of food ready to enter Gaza when the temporary ceasefire takes effect.

The deal between Israel and Hamas will mean a four-day pause in the conflict starting at 07:00 (5:00 GMT) today. In the afternoon, Hamas will release 13 hostages it kidnapped from Israel last month, and then release Palestinian prisoners.

Speaking to the BBC, WFP Middle East spokesman Abir Etefa said that while the temporary ceasefire was a “step forward”, only a full ceasefire would meet humanitarian needs in Gaza.

01:57“We are getting reports of dogs eating dead bodies in the street”

Qatari government spokesman Majed al-Ansari told Sky News that he hoped his country would minimize the amount of time spent transporting hostages by the Red Cross during tomorrow’s ceasefire.

As part of the deal, Israel agreed to allow 200 trucks of humanitarian aid into Gaza, but Ansari says that will not meet even 1 percent of the needs of the people there.

Speaking about the cease-fire, he warned that the ongoing destruction in Gaza risks “radicalizing an entire generation who, having lost their families, homes and futures, will see only revenge as a worthy goal.”

“We get reports of dogs eating corpses on the street, children without limbs, babies dying if they are taken out of incubators,” he added.
