Participants will go through challenges inspired by the games in the series, but obviously without the element of deadly violence. Another difference from the series is that the reality show was filmed in the UK, not South Korea, and the competition is open to participants from all over the world.

Although Netflix has yet to announce a release date or even a release schedule, director Hwang Dong-hyuk said in an interview with Variety magazine last year that he hopes to release season 2 by the end of 2024.

Although information about this is controversial due to the secrecy with which Netflix has surrounded the project, it is believed that filming has already begun in July or August and will last about 10 months.

Given the time required for post-production, this means that Season 2 of the series Squid game as stated by Hwang, it should indeed appear sometime in late 2024, but maybe on the edge.
