Gabriel Oprea, 62, a four-star general in the reserve since October 2009 when he was promoted by decree of President Traian Basescu, was asked if he felt moral guilt over the death of police officer Bohdan Hygina.

The former minister of interior and defense emphasized that his life was marked by dramatic moments and he expressed support for the families of officers who died in the line of duty.

“I was a political target, it was an intelligence-type media lynching. Do you think if I was in a car with someone or walking out of a pub I wouldn’t be told everything in seconds where I was? no That day I had the hardest day of my life. I was in the ministry, I had a government meeting, I went to see President Iohannis on migration issues. I spent 10 minutes or a quarter of an hour at home to eat something, run, and was a slave to work. I escaped because I was the deputy prime minister for national security, I was discussing national security with those from the DRI, we came back, it was around 8:00 p.m., it wasn’t going fast…” he said Oprea, who said of the accident that it was “strange” and for which he does not consider himself morally culpable.

When asked if he felt humiliated by being called a “changer-in-chief”, Opreza said no. The former minister and deputy prime minister considers himself a “political target” because “psychological attacks” were committed against him.

“Nobody is allowed to fight the Romanian army,” Opria said, saying his critics should “take” him only as a politician.

The UNPR founder was also asked about his personal life and how he takes care of his hair, among other things. To the question: “Do you shed tears when you comb your hair?” Victor Ponta’s best man said that taking care of his appearance is a good thing, and he turns to his wife’s cosmetologist for eyebrow shaping.

“First of all, I use shampoo, I don’t color, I use a shampoo that… Do you know what bleach is? Hair discoloration is a hair disease, but there are two conditions to be able to use this shampoo. The first is to have hair on the head, and the second is to have 10-15% pigment left. And I have So, twice a month I use this shampoo, for gray hair that has this color. Two. My wife has a beautician in his 20s, very serious, who comes to our house. When my wife finishes her treatment, I also do the treatment, including the eyebrows. No, I’m not crying,” Oprea replied.

Gabriel Oprya, finally acquitted in the case of the death of policeman Hygin

Former Interior Minister Gabriel Oprya was finally acquitted on Wednesday in a court where he was tried for involuntary manslaughter in connection with the October 2015 road accident that killed police officer Bohdan Hygin.

The decision was handed down on Wednesday by the Court of Appeal in Bucharest after the case went through the courts for years.

Gabriel Oprea then responded with a long message sent to Realitatea.net, in which he claimed to be an “innocent person” who for 8 years faced “attacks on the person, on the family, insults and humiliations that are public, systematic”. .

  • “Paradoxically, in a democratic country, I was put in a position to fight to prove my innocence, to defend myself against lies, lies and manipulation for a guilt that did not exist.
  • Undoubtedly, these were political files.
  • The political momentum of the party I founded made me a target, and it was thought I should be stopped, removed.
  • I represented the UNR in four governments, two on the right, two on the left, and, as always, I chose the path that was considered the right one, even when this choice was very difficult. Under the banner of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, I honorably fulfilled my duties as Minister of National Defense, Minister of Internal Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister for National Security and Acting
  • I was with people from the national security system, we strongly and concretely supported this area. I am a soldier and the son of a soldier, and I have always acted with my heart. I kept my word every time, even if I paid for it,” Oprea claims in a long, pathetic message.

He also claimed that there was “nothing true” in the allegations leveled against him by DNA.

Oprea, Ph.D., and plagiarism

In 2016, members of the CNATDCU General Council determined that Gabriel Oprea’s doctoral dissertation was plagiarized and requested that the doctorate be revoked.

Emilia Sherkan reported the plagiarism in 2015 on HotNews when Oprea was Secretary of the Interior.

The journalist noted that the politician’s thesis “contains a number of elements that the academic community categorizes as plagiarism” and that the work is “a jumble of merged paragraphs, without its own introduction or conclusion.”

But the former deputy prime minister kept his doctorate after the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ÎCCJ) last month overturned an order by Education Minister Mircea Dumitru declaring him a plagiarist and had his degree revoked.

Oprea defended his doctoral thesis entitled “Preliminary Complaint – Historical Perspective” in 2000 at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest, coordinated by Ion Nyagu, a former PSD senator.
