Just a few hours after the opening of the exhibition, almost 2,000 people have already invaded the life of Monica Lovinescu, tours were held on all days of the first weekend, and on Saturday the exhibition ended with a conference, “Paris and Bucharest Monichai Lovinescu”, a fascinating dialogue between Gabriel Liicanu, Ioana Parvulescu, by Cristina Choabe, Teodor Iova and Cristian Muresan.

Photos from the Lovinescu archive in Paris, letters and personal belongings are presented to the public for the first time, and the public will be able to enjoy a series of emotional dialogues by Monica Lovinescu with Mircea Eliade, Eugene Ionescu, Virgil Yerunka, Angela Marinescu, Sorin Alexandrescu, Ana Blandiana or Octavian Paler.

The exhibition, designed by the architect Attila Kim, is an interactive, real journey through time, complemented by a special scenography created by set designer Velika Panduru, which allows the visitor to explore in detail the life of Monica Lovinescu, as it was shown from 1923 to 2008. It’s an emotional intersection of what destiny meant, which was shaped by the horror of 20th-century history, a road paved with a sense of “remember before you forget.”

The exhibition is “dedicated to our parents and their parents, whose lives were completely mutilated by the totalitarian regime. And who expected us to live in a better world.” It is a collective attempt to find each of us in the dramas, hopes and stories of our parents, grandparents, and an attempt to assume and heal a painful and unresolved past, the effects of which are still felt in Romanian society.

The exhibition is housed in one of the most beautiful buildings in the center of Bucharest, Casa La Mița Biciclista. In addition to the history lesson offered by the exhibition, those who cross the threshold of the house will also be able to enjoy the coffee and cocktail bar area on the 1st floor and the night book point on the first floor, grand salons and an atmosphere with a Parisian flavor that will change the daily routine city walks.

The exhibition is organized by ARCEN through La Mița Biciclista Stabiliment Creativ with the support of Humanitas Aqua Forte Foundation and Humanitas Publishing House. You can visit the exhibition and La Mița Biciclista Stabiliment Creativ every day, from Monday to Sunday.
