The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, in his speech on Sunday evening, said that the Ukrainian army needs a fundamentally new level of support, noting that the priorities have been determined, and the results will follow.
- “Today we have an important personnel decision. At the request of the Minister of Defense, I replaced the commander of the Medical Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Instead of Medical Service Major General Tetyana Ostashchenko, the head of the National Military Medical Clinical Center “Main Military Clinical Hospital” in Kyiv, Medical Service Major General Anatoly Kazmirchuk, was appointed as the new commander. The task is clear – and this has been repeatedly discussed in society, especially in our military medical community – a fundamentally new level of medical support for our military is needed. From high-quality turnstiles to full digitization and transparency of supply, from high-quality training to honest communication with combat medics in those units where medical care is organized really correctly and really effectively. The experience of the effectiveness of specific units should be spread to all defense forces. Today, during the meeting with the Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov, we determined the priorities, and we will not have to wait long for the results. Changes should be made quickly,” Zelenskyy said in his address, News.ro reports.
Ukraine is still preparing international events planned for this week, Zelenskyi said.
- “Activity will be important – new communication with our partners. The main thing now is to ensure that Ukraine’s support is sufficient next year as well. I thank all the countries that consider this issue in the same way as we do. This signal must be sent to Russia: whatever it does, the world will not tire of defending international freedom and order. I would like to thank the Netherlands today – this week the Dutch government allocated more than 2 billion euros for the next year, mainly for security support to Ukraine. Thank you, Mr. Prime Minister, Mark (Rutte), and I am also grateful to the entire Dutch society. This is a timely signal. It is important to feel that the defense of freedom is supported by reliable and sincere support.”
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi also noted that every week of this war, thousands of Ukrainians demonstrate their best character, the strongest qualities of people.
- “When we talk about unity in the defense of Ukraine, we always talk not about something abstract, but about very concrete things – that people do what they have to do, that supports others and ultimately allows Ukraine to stand, fight, respond to the enemy and achieve success in battles, strengthen our state, save lives.”
President Zelenskyy thanks the Ukrainian emergency services, which save lives every day
The Kyiv leader thanked the employees of the State Emergency Service – “those who save lives every day.”
- “Those who risk their lives. Those who suffered from the Russian bombings. Thank you to all employees of the State Emergency Service! And especially to Sergeant Vladyslav Dordiy, Sergeant Oleksiy Sushchevskii and Sergeant Oleksiy Shabal – firemen and rescuers working in the Zaporizhzhia region. They were injured this Wednesday while providing aid in the village of Zarichne. Guys, I wish you a speedy recovery! Thank you for your services.
- Donetsk region Rescuers who especially distinguished themselves in helping people after the Russian attack on the city of Selidove. Sergeant Artur Taranenko and Captain Viktor Kartashov. Thank you!
- Kherson region Sergeants Oleksandr Chastukhin, Yevhenii Tyshik, Major Serhii Kovalenko. They have repeatedly participated in the liquidation of the consequences of Russian strikes and always do their best to save as many people as possible. Well done guys! bravo We are very grateful to you!
- And, of course, Ukrainian doctors. Thank you all! I would especially like to mention Tetiana Gurska, head of the Gulyaipil medical aid, and Oleksandr Ilyenko, an anesthesiologist of the Zaporizhia emergency medical station. Thank you!
- Kherson. Volodymyr Pyyatigorets, a surgeon who only this week operated on 16 patients with injuries caused by the explosion of mines. Mykola Stepaniuk, paramedic of Kherson emergency medical service. He actively works, actively helps, actively saves people. I am grateful to you and your colleagues, who are equally active and caring!”.
Zelenskyi also thanked those who help bring children kidnapped by the Russians to Ukraine.
- “I especially want to thank everyone who, with their care and ability to work, helps us return to Ukraine children kidnapped from the occupied territory. Today, it was possible to return to Ukraine the boy Bohdan Yermokhin, who was taken from Mariupol to Russia.
- There were many attempts to help him. I’m glad it all worked out. I am grateful to the entire team working on the return of Ukrainian children – the Office, the Ombudsman and our international partners, in particular UNICEF. I am especially grateful to Qatar for its effective mediation and assistance. Thank you!
- We remember all our people. We know about every corner of Ukraine that is currently occupied. And I am grateful to everyone who is in battle, who is at combat posts, who is studying and helping, who is preparing for battle! Avdiyivka, Maryinka, our entire east, southern directions… Melitopol direction, Kherson region… Glory to everyone who defends Ukraine, who defends independence, who cheers for the people and who sincerely tries to strengthen us all!” Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent in conclusion .
We continue to prepare for other international events next week.
The key task now is to ensure that Ukraine maintains sufficient international support in the coming year.
I am grateful to all countries that share our point of view. We must make it clear to Russia that the world… pic.twitter.com/2tOQS6KKi7
