The accident happened on Thursday morning on Lunga Street in Kodlea.

A 19-year-old female driver injured a 35-year-old man at a pedestrian crossing located a few tens of meters from the Kodli police headquarters. The seriously injured victim was left lying on the asphalt, and the policemen who arrived at the scene of the accident did not try to help him.

This attitude of the police caused the indignation of the witnesses. The man warned one of the policemen, the whole scene is filmed.

“Did you measure his pulse, is he still alive, is he breathing?”, the man asks the policeman, and the law enforcement officer answers: “I didn’t measure his pulse…”.

“Well, why didn’t you take from him, me, that you are educated… that you joined the police. Is this possible? The man is sitting… look at him! Aren’t you doing anything? Well, aren’t you doing anything? Well, in which country do we live? If I move it, you’ll get me. I’m moving him, sir, to see if he’s breathing. How can you leave a person like that for ten minutes? Aren’t you ashamed?”, the man can be heard telling the police.

Witnesses also alleged that an ambulance arrived at the scene of the accident 20 minutes later, although the headquarters of the local station is nearby.

In a statement to ProTV News, doctor Stelutsa Kociu from the Brasov County Emergency Service said that the team went to the indicated location, where they did not find any casualty, and later the caller did not know where the casualty was.

“The research is aimed at identifying possible syncopes in the protocol of the event…”

After the images appeared in the public domain, representatives of the Brasov District Police Inspectorate announced through their public relations department that internal checks were underway.

“At the level of the police inspectorate of the Brasov district, based on the order of the chief inspector, it was suggested to quickly conduct inspections through the internal control structure. Research is aimed at establishing the actual situation, identifying possible shortcomings in the incident protocol, as well as establishing some mechanisms for improving the way of acting in emergency situations. Also, in this context, it is ordered to retrain the police in the methods of intervention and actions in the situation of reporting/production of such events. We reiterate the fact that police officers in our institution are required to show professionalism and compassion when interacting with citizens, especially in situations where their lives and physical integrity are at risk. Moreover, every mission must be carried out in a spirit of respect for the law and citizens,” said the leadership of the Brasov District Police.
