Alessandro Florenzi avoided sports sanctions due to the bookmaker scandal

At the age of 32, Florenzi was interrogated by the Turin prosecutor for a little over an hour.

“No procedure is ongoing from our side, as there is currently no information or evidence regarding betting on football matches” – Italian Football Federation (FIGC)quoted by AFP.

The announcement came shortly after the FIGC suspended Sandro Tonali (Newcastle – 10 months) and Nicolo Fagioli (Juventus – 7 months). Niccolo Zaniolo (Aston Villa) was also investigated but said he did not bet on the match.

According to Italian media, Florenzi’s case is similar to that of Zaniolo (his former colleague at AS Roma), who admitted to using illegal poker and blackjack platforms.

Florenzi’s contract with Milan runs until 2025. He was part of the Italy team that won the European Championship in 2021 (made 49 appearances for the national team, the last in June 2022).
