Prosecutors arrested a man from Timișoara in the case of businessman Adrian Kreiner from Sibiu, who was murdered in his home, but the main suspects – three other men – were not caught and managed to flee the country. The detainee is accused of helping the perpetrators of the crime by hosting them and facilitating the departure of one of them outside the country.

This was announced by the first deputy prosecutor of the Sibiu Court Prosecutor’s Office, Michaela Ruginos, in a press release, which stated that the man arrested on Thursday was 44 years old and originally from Dumbravica in Timiş County.

According to the source, the man is being prosecuted for committing a crime for the benefit of a criminal, accused of helping criminals with accommodation and transportation, facilitating the departure of one of the criminals from the country. Searches were conducted at his place of residence and the office of his company.

Who are the perpetrators of the crime?

Three men, suspected of robbery and murder of a businessman, are 31, 33 and 34 years old, they are from Dolj county.

“Today, a criminal prosecution was initiated against three men from the Dolj district, aged 31, 33 and 34, respectively, for committing the crimes of murder and aggravated robbery. So far, it has not been possible to establish their location, as there is a possibility that they have left the territory of the country. Two of them have criminal records,” the report says.

The prosecutor’s office also reported that the motive for the crime was robbery.

  • “From the evidence presented, it follows that the reason for breaking into the victim’s home was robbery.
  • The authors carried out surveillance of the victim’s house, starting from the night of November 4-5, 2023, from a neighboring and uninhabited building.
  • On one of the samples taken during the inspection of the scene of the incident in this building, the DNA profile of one of the perpetrators was revealed,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

The murder took place on November 6, according to surveillance footage, and the three men were wearing balaclavas.

50-year-old businessman Adrian Kreiner was beaten and robbed in his own home. The thieves stole watches worth €200,000, but prosecutors said they did not take any money. The businessman’s girlfriend and daughter were also in the house, and they were not injured.
