
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) reported that on Sunday, another 86 Romanian citizens and their families were evacuated from the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing in Egypt. They are now on their way to Cairo.
“86 Romanian citizens and their families were transported from the Rafah checkpoint by the rapid response team of the MAE Crisis Cell and representatives of the Romanian Embassy in RA Egypt and will be accompanied to Cairo by another mobile team of the MAE Crisis Cell. Evacuated citizens will arrive in Romania in the near future,” the IAE reports.
The Romanian state continues dialogue and negotiations regarding the evacuation of other Romanians still in the enclave.
“The MAE continues to engage in dialogue with the Israeli and Egyptian authorities to also facilitate the evacuation of other nationals, depending on developments on the ground and the agreement of the parties involved. At the same time, the mobile consular team of the MAE Crisis Cell, equipped with mobile means of providing consular assistance, remains available in the area of the Rafah checkpoint to provide further consular assistance. Currently, three mobile consular teams from the Rapid Response Group of the Crisis Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are in the RA of Egypt to support specific efforts on the ground,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.
So far, since the beginning of the war in the region, 134 Romanian citizens and their families have been evacuated to Romania.
