Former Levante and Real Zaragoza player Rafael Dvamena has died aged 28 after collapsing on the pitch during a match and could not be saved.

The tragedy happened on Saturday at a match in Albania between Egnatia and Partizan.

Rafael Dwamena, a player for Levante and Real Zaragoza, collapsed on the pitch in the 24th minute of the match and died at the age of 28, despite the best efforts of doctors present at the stadium.

According to panorama.com, the club where the footballer from Ghana played knew about the heart problems, but agreed to let Dwamena play, but under his own responsibility.

Rafael Dvamena scored 12 goals in 12 matches for Egnatia.
