Ukraine’s capital Kyiv was hit by an airstrike on Saturday, and loud explosions were heard, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said, but there were no reports of possible casualties, Reuters reported.
This is the first attack on Kyiv since the end of September.
“There were loud explosions on the left bank of the capital,” Klitschko said in the Telegram messenger, referring to the left bank of the Dnieper.
“Previously, anti-aircraft defense worked against (ballistic) missiles.”
An air alert was declared in Kyiv and the surrounding region a few minutes before the explosions rang out. The city authorities urged residents to stay in shelters.
