“I also spoke and asked even the parliament to amend the legislation. I think it is abnormal when a person who violates traffic rules receives a fine, tells the policeman “give me a bigger one, because I don’t pay anyway”, and he doesn’t pay, because you have nothing to do with them. First, most of them have nothing to their name, no established legitimate income, and the moment you sue them for turning a fine into community service hours, or they will come to you with a medical exam exemption. that I can’t work or, even worse, I don’t do it. The legislator forgot to say what will happen if he does not serve these hours for the benefit of the community,” Mayor Francesti said on Thursday at a press conference organized by the branch of the National Liberal Party of Vilca, reports Agerpres.

Paraskiv says that the Francesti City Hall is not doing very well with the collection of traffic fines, the debits in this section amount to several million lei, and this affects the local budget, considering that allocations are given depending on the level of the fee. fees, taxes and fines.

“I have raised this issue countless times. It is not normal that when your driver’s license is suspended and you receive a fine, you need to get your license back without paying the fine. I suggested giving a reasonable time frame of six months or maybe even a year to pay these fines, but if you don’t pay the fine your driver’s license should be suspended and I tell you there would be a line at the counter for people to pay the fines. The fact that these fines are not paid also affects the local budget, because we are burdened with debits that we cannot collect. For example, in 2016 we had approximately 4 million or so – 5 million lei of overdue debts. A lot of money when you think about it. In seven years, we managed to recover about 10 through confiscations and because of everything we did to be able to reduce this deficit, because it also affects us in terms of appropriations,” said Mayor Francesti.

The mayor suggested to the authorities, among other things, to create a department at the regional level that would deal with debt repayment in order to relieve the mayor’s office of this task.
