“Up there, where God, Sun, Sky, Love, and Beauty sit together, that Aviation may help me see the images of splendor that nature freely offers to men. A rare phenomenon, such a rich imperial red color, which I bring you as a gift on the Eve of the evening, such splendor as a sign of love,” the pilot wrote on his Facebook page.

He stated that the pictures were taken over Budapest.

“Bloody Aurora, it’s called! This is an extremely rare occurrence, especially in this geographic area. I saw her on Sunday evening, coming from Paris. We were at level 390. The city below us is Budapest!” pilot César Osičanu explained to monitorulcj.ro.

On Sunday evening, a reddish aurora was immortalized in several regions of the country. This phenomenon was also reported in other European countries, such as the Czech Republic, Hungary or the Republic of Moldova.

The aurora is related to the intense solar activity of the last two or three days, said the coordinator of the astronomical observatory “Admiral Vasile Urceanu” in Bucharest, museographer Adrian Shonka, as quoted by Agerpres.

He noted that the phenomenon can be observed in the north in the form of red lights. They were seen from across Europe as well as North America, and were caused by intense solar activity in recent days and a coronal mass ejection aimed at Earth.
