Pupils return to school on Monday, after a week’s vacation, in the capital there is an additional day, Friday, in honor of Saint Demetrius the New – the patron saint of Bucharest.

According to the calendar approved by the Ministry of Education, the 2023-2024 academic year ends on August 31, 2024 and has a duration of 36 weeks.

As an exception, it is established: for 12 day, 13 evening and shortened classes, the academic year has a duration of 34 weeks and ends on June 7, 2024, and for 8 classes, the academic year has a course duration of 35 weeks and ends on June 14, 2024.

For classes of secondary school – technological direction and for classes of vocational education, the academic year has a duration of 37 weeks of courses and ends on June 28, 2024.

The rest of the weekend is scheduled as follows:

* December 23, 2023 – January 7, 2024;

* one week, as decided by the school inspectorates of the district/municipality of Bucharest, between February 12 and March 3, 2024;

* April 27 – May 7, 2024;

* June 22 – September 8, 2024.

The programs “Another School” and “Green Week” will take place until April 26, 2024 with separate intervals of five consecutive working days, the planning of which is decided by the educational unit.
