The Palestine Refugee Agency, known as UNRWA, supports about 89 bakeries in Gaza to make bread for 1.7 million people, White told diplomats from 193 UN member states during a video conference from Gaza.

But, according to him, “now people are not only looking for bread, they are looking for water.”

The UN’s deputy Middle East coordinator, Lynn Hastings, who is also the humanitarian coordinator in the Palestinian territories, said that only one of the three water lines in Israel is working.
