“A total of 220 cases of violations and incidents have been recorded at the country’s polling stations at this time. Among them: 65 facts of preventing election campaigning on election day; 4 cases of unauthorized agitation; 11 attempts to corrupt voters; 2 cases are part of criminal proceedings, namely, obstruction of the exercise of the free right to vote; 27 cases with reference to taking photos of the ballot, as well as about 60 cases of other types of violations,” said the head of the CEC, quoted by the local press.

At the same time, the CEC received 11 complaints and one appeal, mainly regarding pre-election campaigning.

Head of the CEC: In Chisinau, voter turnout is currently 38.09%. 254,598 residents of the capital voted.

By 21:00, 1,958 polling stations were open in the territory of the Republic of Moldova, less in Transnistria.

The mayoral race could be decided in a runoff two weeks later between the top two candidates if no candidate wins a simple majority in the first round.

The general local elections on November 5, 2023 are the eighth such elections since the Republic of Moldova declared its independence.
