On Saturday evening, around 8:00 p.m. local time (7:00 p.m. GMT), a man drove his car onto the runway, fired two shots into the air and threw two bottles containing an incendiary substance after stopping near a Turkish Airlines plane. His child is also in the car. As Bild daily reports, the 35-year-old man is a Turk, and the child is a four-year-old girl.

The driver’s wife informed the police about the abduction of the child earlier, said the police spokesman, who also noted that negotiations with the father are being conducted in Turkish.

Following the incident, 17 flights scheduled to land in Hamburg on Saturday night, with a total of 3,200 people on board, were diverted. Initially, 286 flights with 34.5 thousand passengers were scheduled for Sunday.
